Born in Zimbabwe, Des was exposed to military history museums from a young age growing up in South Africa, and quickly developed a love for planes and all things aviation. From museum visits to model kit building, airshows and war movies or documentaries, she has nurtured her affection for aviation through the years despite her career taking a different path. An avid geek, gamer and husky mom, she currently works in the aviation sector that focuses on assisting developing nations with their aviation infrastructure.
