American is adding more capacity between its Charlotte, North Carolina, hub and London Heathrow in the coming months. The airline operates three daily flights between the two cities.

On Tuesday, the Fort Worth, Texas-based carrier began regularly scheduled Boeing 777-300ER service to Charlotte for the first time. The aircraft — American’s largest — will operate one of the three daily Charlotte-London flights.

The aircraft can accommodate up to 304 passengers and has eight Flagship First seats. This new service will also mark the first time American has offered the long-haul first class product from Charlotte.

With service to several European markets, American regularly flies its 777-200 aircraft to Charlotte. Overall, the 777-300ER can seat 31 more passengers than the smaller 777-200 variant.

In addition, the 777-300ER will be among the airport’s largest-ever aircraft, second only to Lufthansa’s 318-seat A350s. However, the Boeing jet beats the A350-900 by length and wingspan.
