Key Takeaways:

Hong Kong has been on Bhutan Airlines’ radar after successfully launching flights to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The airline will ramp up its services by adding 16 fixed-departure flights between Paro and Hong Kong, according to Kuensel. The new flight takes around four hours to Bhutan from Hong Kong, saving three to four hours of connection time compared to the current schedule.

The airline currently focuses on the peak season for Hongkongers, launching the maiden flight on Jan. 29 (Lunar New Year), with the remaining flights provided on Christmas, summer holiday 2025, etc.

“We are thrilled to announce Hong Kong as our third destination for the 2025 fixed departure flights. We understand that the holiday season is a popular time for travelers, and we have designed these schedules with that in mind, offering Hongkongers an opportunity to explore Bhutan, one of Asia’s unique destinations.” Pema N. Nadik, CEO of the airline, said.

Expanding Its Route Map

Recently, Hong Kong launched a new campaign to attract more airlines and routes.

Bhutan Airlines is the country’s first private airline operating two Airbus A319 aircraft with a capacity of 126 passengers. The aircraft consist of 12 business class and 114 economy class seats. The airline operates flights from Paro to a small number of neighboring cities, such as Bangkok, Kathmandu, Delhi, and Kolkata, India.

In addition, Paro International Airport is considered one of the most challenging airports in the world and the sole international airport in the country. There are only a few qualified pilots who fly to the airport.
