Malaysia Airlines said a series of technical issues from “poor quality work” has grounded its brand-new Airbus A330neo for two more days.

According to a Business Times report, the A330neos powered by the new Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engine option will be grounded for at least 48 hours. The delay – caused by technical issues with its engine and hydraulic systems – came shortly after Malaysia Airlines unveiled its new widebody aircraft on Thursday.

The carrier became the 20th A330neo operator on Nov. 29, but had to delay its maiden flight to Melbourne due to similar technical issues. That flight is now cancelled due to continuing issues.

Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, managing director at Malaysia Airlines, told Business Times that this happening to a brand-new aircraft was “not acceptable” and “embarrassing.”

Both Airbus and Rolls-Royce told Business Times that they were ready to support Malaysia Airlines with the aircraft’s issues. Rolls-Royce stated that a faulty component has been identified and “replacement of that part is in progress.”
