Delta Adds Another Alaska Route

The airline will be adding more service to Anchorage this summer

Delta has been adjusting its Alaska routes for this coming summer. About two months ago, the airline announced a bunch of new adds for Anchorage and Fairbanks, including upgrading its aircraft from Atlanta, as well as adding a Salt Lake City flight to Fairbanks.

Then last week, the carrier decided to cut two cities in the state entirely, with Sitka and Ketchikan service not resuming this summer.

And again, Delta has once again readjusted its Alaska service with another new flight to the busiest city in the state.

Starting May 24, it will be adding flights from its Los Angeles hub to Anchorage on board Boeing 737-900ERs and will operate once a week on Saturdays through the end of August. With this new add, the airline will fly to six of its hubs during the peak summer season from Anchorage.

Seattle and Minneapolis are year-round, with flights to Atlanta, Salt Lake City, Detroit, and now Los Angeles operating during the peak season.

The airline will compete with Alaska Airlines on its newest route, which already serves the market at least once a day. Except for Atlanta, Delta will now compete with Alaska on every single route it operates out of Anchorage, as Alaska just announced flights from the state’s busiest city to Detroit starting right around the time Delta resumes its seasonal Detroit service in June 2025.

Delta last connected Anchorage and Los Angeles in 2021.
