Malawi Airlines now offers more connections between Malawi’s major cities: Lilongwe and Blantyre.

Malawi Airlines, part-owned by Africa’s largest carrier, Ethiopian Airlines – which has a 49 percent stake in Malawi’s national carrier, has added two additional weekly services between Malawi’s largest cities.

The airline introduced two extra weekly flights between Lilongwe’s Kamuzu International Airport and Blantyre’s Chileka International Airport on April 3. The new services operate on Mondays and Thursdays.

Services are operated with a De Havilland Canada Dash 8 aircraft. The short flight has a block time of 40 minutes in both directions.

Beyond its sole domestic route, Malawi Airlines offers flights to a handful of destinations on the African continent. It flies to Johannesburg, Nairobi, Dar Es Salaam, Lusaka and Harare.

The airline has a fleet of three aircraft, comprised of two Boeing 737s (a 737-700 and a 737-800) as well as the Dash 8. The Dash 8 and Boeing 737-700 are used interchangeably for services to Dar Es Salaam, Lusaka, and Harare while the 737-800 operates services to Johannesburg and Nairobi.
