Editor’s Note: AirlineGeeks is proud to present our ‘Livery of the Week’ series. Every Friday, a team member will share an airline livery, which can be from the past, present, or even a special scheme. Some airline liveries are works of art. The complexity associated with painting around critical flight components and the added weight requires outside-the-box thinking from designers. The average airliner can cost upwards of $200,000 to repaint, creating a separate aircraft repainting industry as a result.
Have an idea for a livery that we should highlight? Drop us a line.
airBaltic’s standard livery is defined by its bright lime green color, applied prominently across the vertical stabilizer and engine nacelles. The Latvian carrier pairs the vibrant shade with a clean white fuselage, creating a high-contrast design that stands out across European airports.
The tail features a solid lime green finish with “Baltic” titles in black. The same green is carried onto the engine nacelles, giving the aircraft a cohesive look that remains consistent across the fleet.
Along the fuselage, the aircraft retains a largely white base with minimal embellishment. “airBaltic” titles appear in a dark gray tone on the forward section, keeping the overall design simple while allowing the tail and engines to serve as the primary visual identifiers.

The livery is applied uniformly across airBaltic’s all-Airbus A220-300 fleet. The airline was one of the launch customers for the type and has since built its entire operation around the aircraft, making the lime green design a consistent presence across every aircraft in service.
Unlike many carriers that rely on heritage symbols or complex striping, airBaltic’s livery takes a minimalist approach centered on color recognition. The bright green palette is uncommon in commercial aviation, helping the airline establish a strong visual identity despite operating in a highly competitive European market.
