Taiwan’s EVA Air on Friday launched service to its newest destination in the U.S.
The Taoyuan-based carrier is now the only airline in the world offering nonstop flights between Taipei and Washington Dulles. The connection will operate four times weekly using Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
The inaugural flight from Taipei received a water cannon salute at Dulles on Friday.
EVA Air first announced plans to connect Washington, D.C., in January. Officials said the route will help meet strong existing demand for international business, academic, and leisure travel from the region.
“Washington Dulles International Airport serves as a vital gateway to the nation’s capital area,” EVA Air President Clay Sun said in a news release. “We are immensely grateful for the strong support from all our partners and guests that made expanding our network into the heart of America possible… This new route will seamlessly enhance EVA Air’s network across the eastern United States, delivering premium service to both business and leisure travelers alike.”
With the addition of Washington Dulles, EVA Air now serves 10 destinations in North America.
