Delta will launch two new seasonal routes to Europe next year while strengthening service on several existing connections.
The carrier announced Friday that it will connect Detroit and Athens, and Boston and Venice.
Flights to Venice will operate four times weekly, starting May 7, 2027, and continuing through Oct. 29. Service to Athens will launch June 8, 2027, and operate three times weekly through Oct. 28.
Detroit has never had a nonstop connection to Athens before, according to the Wayne County Airport Authority.
Flights to Venice will use an Airbus A330-300 aircraft, while flights to Athens will operate with an A330-200.
Delta said the new routes will complement its upcoming service between Austin, Texas, and Paris, set to begin March 27, 2027.
“By adding new European destinations from Detroit and Boston, establishing Austin as a new gateway to Europe, and extending service on several popular routes, we’re giving customers more choice, greater flexibility, and more opportunities to travel when and how they want,” Jeff Arinder, Delta’s vice president of international network planning, said in a news release.
European Expansion
Delta will also start certain seasonal connections to Europe early next year, while adding flights on routes that have seen an increase in consumer demand.
Service from Minneapolis-St. Paul and Detroit to Rome will start earlier, in March instead of May, while Seattle-Rome will move up to April.
Flights from New York-JFK to Catania, Italy, Porto, Portugal, Prague, and Copenhagen will also return earlier in 2027, as will service from Boston and Seattle to Barcelona and from Atlanta to Edinburgh, Scotland.
Detroit-Rome and JFK-Copenhagen will operate daily when they resume, while flights between Cincinnati, Ohio, and Paris will run three times weekly from January 2027 through March.
Additionally, service from Boston to Milan will increase to daily. Delta did not provide an exact date for the change.
