Key Takeaways:

As of October 7, 2016, Moscow based carrier AirBridge Cargo added Seattle
to their international route network. Their service launch was celebrated with an aircraft dedication event at Sea-Tac Airport.

The brand new Boeing 747-8F Freighter aircraft was brought in on a short flight directly from Paine Field in Everett and greeted with a water cannon salute upon arrival. Executives from both AirBridge Cargo and Boeing attended the meeting, led by Port of Seattle Commissioner John Creighton.

Operating an all Boeing fleet, AirBridge Cargo is the freight branch of Volga-Dnepr Group. Russian carrier Volga-Dnepr is famous for operating the Antonov 124, and occasionally, the massive aircraft can be seen flying into Sea-Tac.

“We are excited to include Seattle in our network so we can provide our customers an even greater range of coverage options from the United States,” said Hendrik Falk, AirBridge Vice President, North and South America. “We expect our new Seattle service will be in high demand among customers active in a variety of industries including: aerospace, machinery, fish and seafood, food, to name just a few. We see how much Sea-Tac Airport has accomplished in support of cargo operators and infrastructure, no wonder that the airport is gaining a much more prominent profile for cargo operators, with AirBridgeCargo proud to be among them.”

AirBridge Cargo is Russia’s largest airline, and is expanding rapidly, currently serving 24 destinations across 11 countries. Their newest destination, Seattle, will include two incoming flights each week with outbound flights to Frankfurt and Amsterdam.
