Viva Aerobus is set to expand its international offering from Austin, Texas, later this year with a new connection to Mexico.

Beginning on Nov. 20, the ultra-low-cost carrier’s new destination is Felipe Ángeles International Airport, Mexico City’s alternative to Benito Juárez International Airport. The facility offers onward connections across Mexico, as well as to Colombia and Cuba, and will be linked to downtown Mexico City by a train service scheduled to open in December.

According to Austin airport officials, the new service will complement the airline’s existing flights to Monterrey. With the additions, Viva will now offer daily connectivity to Mexico from Austin, alternating between the new route and the Monterrey flights. Airport CEO Ghizlane Badawi said the expansion highlights the carrier’s continued investment in the region.

The new flights will operate three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Service will use Viva’s 186-seat Airbus A320 aircraft, departing Austin in the early afternoon and returning from Mexico in the morning. Tickets went on sale Aug. 20.
