The Chicago Department of Aviation has awarded United five more gates at Chicago O’Hare International Airport based on flight numbers from last year.

The Chicago-based airline has a total of 50 A321XLR aircraft on order. Twelve are initially slated to join United’s fleet in 2026.

But JetBlue leadership pushed back on these so-called “rumors” in an email to employees Thursday that was viewed by AirlineGeeks.

The launch of key elements of the partnership is contingent upon regulatory approval, with initial offerings expected as early as fall 2025.

United is offering three-times weekly service between Washington, D.C., and Dakar, Senegal, as the airline grows its presence in Africa.

United will soon require all passengers on domestic flights to check in at least 45 minutes before departure time, regardless of whether or not they have checked luggage.

United will return to this Midwest airport in September after a years-long hiatus, the city shared Thursday, with flights to Denver and Chicago.

Both the union and United called the contract “industry-leading.” The two have been negotiating a new contract for around four years. 

United VP Jon Gooda put out a statement advising customers that the airline will continue operating on a reduced schedule at Newark before gradually rebuilding.

A former student at United Aviate Academy has filed a lawsuit against the flight school, alleging fraud and significant delays in training.
