Editor’s Note: AirlineGeeks is proud to present our ‘Livery of the Week’ series. Every Friday, a team member will share an airline livery, which can be from the past, present, or even a special scheme. Some airline liveries are works of art. The complexity associated with painting around critical flight components and the added weight requires outside-the-box thinking from designers. The average airliner can cost upwards of $200,000 to repaint, creating a separate aircraft repainting industry as a result.

TAAG Angola Airlines announced a new livery design that will be featured on its upcoming Airbus A220 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The updated design aims to reflect the spirit of Angola, the carrier says.
The new livery will prominently showcase the Palanca, the black antelope, a national symbol of Angola, on the tail and winglets of the aircraft. The overall color scheme will draw inspiration from the traditional Angolan fabric, “Samakaka.”

This new branding concept will debut with the arrival of the Airbus A220-300, expected to join TAAG’s fleet in the third quarter of 2024. The A220-300 will be configured with 137 seats, including 12 business class and 125 economy class seats, and is intended for domestic and regional routes.
The livery change coincides with TAAG’s upcoming move to the new Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport, also known as New Luanda International Airport, and the airline’s preparation for increased competition in the African market.
