The airline will connect Zurich and Seattle starting next summer.
Edelweiss, a Swiss leisure airline, has announced plans to launch a new nonstop service between Zurich, Switzerland and Seattle, Wash. According to Ishrion Aviation on Twitter/X, the new route is scheduled to begin on June 2, 2025, operating twice weekly on Mondays and Saturdays.
The flight will depart Zurich at 1:00 p.m. and arrive in Seattle at 2:50 p.m. local time. The return flight will depart Seattle at 4:25 p.m. and arrive in Zurich at 11:45 a.m. the next day. The 5,259-mile flight is blocked at 10 hours and 50 minutes westbound and 10 hours and 20 minutes eastbound.
The new route will be operated by an Airbus A340-300 aircraft. Edelweiss currently operates a fleet of five A340-300s, averaging 19.7 years old. The airline plans to introduce the Airbus A350 to its fleet in 2025, with the first two A350s scheduled to arrive in April of next year.
A member of the Lufthansa Group, the leisure airline serves a handful of other U.S. destinations, including Tampa, Las Vegas, and Denver. Edelweiss is also planning to grow its presence in Canada this summer, adding a new route from Zurich to Halifax.
