United is adding a new route to the Caribbean beginning next year. The Chicago-based airline will become the second major U.S. carrier to serve the island nation of Dominica, starting on Feb. 15, 2025.
Flights to Douglas–Charles Airport will operate once per week on Saturdays from the carrier’s Newark, New Jersey, hub.
Schedule data from Cirium Diio shows United planning to fly a Boeing 737-700 on the new route, which would be among the largest aircraft to serve the airport’s 6,352-foot runway. American also operates up to two daily flights between Miami and Dominica on Envoy Air Embraer E175 aircraft.
In addition to American and soon United, the airport sees regular U.S. service from Silver Airways via San Juan.
“United is proud to partner with the Discover Dominica Authority to add beautiful Dominica to our leading global route network,” said Matt Stevens, vice president of international network at United, in a news release. “This addition further positions United as the airline of choice for customers looking to travel to unique destinations around the globe.”
The airline’s current scheduled flights to Dominica extend through at least August 2025 with plans to operate the route on a year-round basis.
