American continues to push the range on its Embraer E175 fleet. Last week, the carrier added some longer “regional” routes to its domestic network.

With 121 active E175s flown by its regional subsidiary Envoy Air, American boasts one of the largest Embraer fleets in the world. SkyWest also operates some E175s for American for a total of 218, according to Cirium Fleet Analyzer data.

In addition, the Fort Worth, Texas-based airline plans to receive over 90 more Embraer jets in the coming years. The E175’s published range is around 2,500 miles.

Longer Regional Routes in 2025

Between February and May 2025, Envoy will operate American’s longest currently scheduled regional route from Phoenix to Appleton, Wisconsin. The route – which is new to the carrier’s network – is 1,463 miles.

In June, the airline will resume service between Chicago O’Hare and Boise, Idaho, per Cirium Diio schedule data. When Phoenix-Appleton ends in May, this flight will become American’s longest scheduled regional route.

Flights from Chicago to Boise will operate daily starting on June 5. Envoy will also operate this over-1,400-mile route.

Other E175 Flights

In the past, there have been other, even longer regional jet routes in American’s network. At 1,414 miles, Miami to Dominica has continually held top spots.

The airline’s Dallas/Fort Worth to Santa Rosa, California, flight is nearly 1,500 miles but switches to mainline Airbus A319 aircraft next year. Flights between Miami and Martinique have also been operated by E175s before switching to mainline jets.

United offers some of the longest regional jet-operated flights in the U.S., including San Francisco to Minneapolis and Monterrey, Mexico, which are all over 1,500 miles.

At over 1,700 miles, United’s seasonal Washington Dulles to Bozeman, Montana, route was among the longest E175 flights in the world. It switches to an A319 aircraft during the summer 2025 season.
