Key Takeaways:

With some airlines – including American and Delta – cutting daytime flights to Europe, United plans to resume one in 2025. Most flights between North America and Europe operate as red-eyes; daytime service has become less common in recent years.

In 2022, United ended its third daily flight between Washington Dulles and London Heathrow. This service operated during the day, leaving Washington in the morning and landing in London in the evening.

As first reported by Ishrion Aviation on Twitter/X and confirmed with Cirium Diio schedule data, United will resume this flight in October 2025.

The third daily flight is slated to resume on Oct. 25 with a Boeing 757-200. It departs Washington at 8:30 a.m. local time, arriving in London at 8:50 p.m.

In addition to the Washington-London daytime flight, United operates a similarly timed service from its Newark, New Jersey, hub to London.

Fewer Daytime Flights

Daytime flights between North America and Europe have become increasingly rare. By next year, both American and Delta will have cut most of their daytime trans-Atlantic flights.

Delta axed its last remaining daytime flight from New York-JFK to Paris in October. American is also ending its morning departure from Chicago O’Hare to London but keeping the 9:30 a.m. flight from New York to London.

Editor’s Note: United’s Washington to London daytime flight was removed from the airline’s schedule in December 2024.
