Editor’s Note: AirlineGeeks is proud to present our ‘Livery of the Week’ series. Every Friday, a team member will share an airline livery, which can be from the past, present, or even a special scheme. Some airline liveries are works of art. The complexity associated with painting around critical flight components and the added weight requires outside-the-box thinking from designers. The average airliner can cost upwards of $200,000 to repaint, creating a separate aircraft repainting industry as a result.
Have an idea for a livery that we should highlight? Drop us a line.
JetBlue has launched a new special aircraft livery featuring characters from Nintendo’s Super Mario franchise. The Airbus A320, designated with registration N561JB and named “Cloudtop Cruiser,” showcases Mario, Princess Peach, Luigi, Bowser, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi.
The exterior of the aircraft is designed with bright colors and imagery from the Super Mario world. Upon boarding, passengers will encounter Mario and his friends on the welcome screen of the seatback entertainment systems.

This partnership between JetBlue and Nintendo aims to enhance the passenger experience by incorporating elements of the popular video game franchise. JetBlue emphasizes that its special liveries are created to celebrate significant partnerships and aspects of the airline’s identity.
The initiative builds upon a previous collaboration between JetBlue and Nintendo, which included a “Nintendo Switch On the Go” pop-up and a Mario meet-and-greet at John F. Kennedy Airport’s Terminal 5. JetBlue has stated that the partnership will continue with further activations throughout the year.
