Taiwan’s China Airlines inked a firm order with Airbus for ten A350-1000s. The new aircraft are expected to be delivered by 2029.
“We are confident that the A350-1000, with its superior range, fuel efficiency and comfort, will play a key role in transforming our long-haul operations,” Kao Shing-Hwang, chairman of China Airline, said in a statement.
He is optimistic about the future after the airline is seeing a double-digit growth in the Asia-Pacific region. China Airlines currently operates 15 A350-900s on long-haul routes.
The A350-1000s, featuring Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines, could carry 346 to 348 passengers in a three-class configuration. The new aircraft are expected to serve North America and Europe, such as New York and London.
Also, the Taiwanese carrier has been given an option to acquire five more aircraft, according to local media.
In addition, the carrier hasn’t stopped enhancing its fleet. Boeing is also expected to make a deal with the airline for ten 777-9 jets in April or May.
