American is planning to add a new city to its route map later this year. This market will be its 30th in Mexico.

On Thursday, the carrier announced the addition of Puerto Escondido as its latest destination in Mexico, with nonstop service from Dallas/Fort Worth starting on Dec. 3.

The Fort Worth, Texas-based airline will operate year-round flights twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, utilizing Embraer E175 aircraft.

Puerto Escondido is in Oaxaca on the Pacific coast. American will become the second U.S. airline to serve the city alongside United, which began serving the market from Houston earlier this month.

In March, American launched new service to Tampico, and in November, it plans to introduce flights to Cancun from Oklahoma City, marking the only international service from that state. The airline also added service to Tulum, Tijuana, and Veracruz in 2024.

American currently operates over 100 peak daily flights between the U.S. and Mexico, according to Cirium Diio schedule data. The airline is the largest U.S. carrier in the U.S.-Mexico market.
