Key Takeaways:

Spanish carrier Iberia is set to add a distinctive change on one of its U.S. routes.

Beginning this winter, the airline will operate the only scheduled westbound red-eye service between Western Europe and the U.S. To do this, its flight from Madrid to Dallas/Fort Worth will be retimed.

This year-round service currently operates in a typical U.S.-Europe timing: The outbound flight leaves Madrid in the afternoon local time before turning around in Dallas/Fort Worth in the evening. The eastbound leg is a red-eye, landing the next day back in Madrid.

On Oct. 28, both segments of this route will start operating as red-eye flights, per the latest Cirium Diio schedule update.

The outbound flight is now scheduled to leave Madrid at 12:55 a.m. local time, arriving in Dallas/Fort Worth at 5:30 a.m. The return flight departs Dallas/Fort Worth at 1:55 p.m., landing in Madrid at 6:15 a.m. the following morning.

This route is operated with an Airbus A330 aircraft.

Iberia’s Dallas/Fort Worth Route

The airline began serving Dallas/Fort Worth in June 2022. During the winter months, flights operate four times per week and increase to daily in the summer.

Its Oneworld partner, American, also links its Dallas/Fort Worth hub and Madrid on a daily basis.

Airlines rarely operate late-night westbound flights from Europe to the U.S. Some of Turkish Airlines’ flights leave Istanbul after midnight local time, including flights to New York-JFK and Miami.
