Key Takeaways:

Commuter airline Aztec Airways is adding a new destination in the Bahamas to its route map.

The carrier will fly between its private terminal at Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport and Leonard M. Thompson International Airport in Marsh Harbour in the Abaco Islands, which sit north of Nassau and east of Grand Bahama.

The Ministry of Tourism, which announced the new route, did not provide a start date but did say the service will operate daily.

Bahamas officials said the flight will provide an important link between South Florida and the “Out Islands,” or islands beyond New Providence and Grand Bahama.

“This direct, consistent service will not only streamline travel for our guests but also serves as a powerful catalyst for our local economy, fostering more tourism and investment opportunities in Abaco,” said Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper.

Aztec currently flies from Fort Lauderdale to 10 destinations in the Bahamas, including Freeport, North Eleuthera, South Bimini, and Governor’s Harbour.
