Key Takeaways:

Mexican state-owned airline Mexicana has taken delivery of its first two Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.

The two airplanes were flown from Embraer’s headquarters in Brazil to Mexico on Monday.

Mexicana has placed an order for a total of 20 E2 jets, comprising 10 E190-E2s and 10 E195-E2s. The order is part of a fleet modernization effort aimed at improving fuel efficiency and strengthening the carrier’s domestic route network.

“This delivery marks a new chapter for Mexicana,” said CEO Leobardo Bojórquez. “The E2’s performance, economics, and passenger appeal make it the perfect aircraft to support our growth strategy. We are excited to bring this new level of service and efficiency to our customers.”

Mexicana’s E2s will be configured in a single-class layout with no middle seats. The E190-E2s will have 108 seats and the E195-E2s will have 132 seats.

When the two E195-E2s enter commercial service, Mexicana will become the first airline in Mexico to operate E2 jets.
