American is expanding its schedule at Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport in Florida with the addition of a new nonstop route and extended year-round service on a current destination. The announcement continues the carrier’s long-standing presence at the Florida Panhandle airport.
Beginning Dec. 19, the airline will launch daily nonstop service to its Miami hub, marking a new 500-mile intrastate connection. The flights will be operated with Embraer 175 aircraft, departing Destin in the early morning and returning late in the evening.
Chicago Expansion
In addition to the new Florida service, American will expand its Chicago O’Hare route to operate year-round. The flights, which were previously offered seasonally, will now run daily throughout the winter and summer.
Jason Reisinger, American’s managing director of global network planning, said the new routes “will complement American’s existing flights to Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Washington, D.C.”
Flights will be available for booking starting July 21, the airline said.
