Low-cost carrier Spirit is launching new nonstop service to Key West, Florida.

Low-cost carrier Spirit is launching new nonstop service to Key West, Florida.

Starting Nov. 6, the airline will offer flights between Fort Lauderdale and Key West four times per week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Service will increase to once daily on Dec. 18.

Spirit said the flight will be the only nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale and Key West.

“Key West is a one-of-a-kind beach destination, and now travelers can easily access this island paradise and enjoy Spirit’s elevated guest experience along the way,” said John Kirby, vice president of network planning at Spirit. “Our new service offers a convenient and affordable alternative to driving and gives our guests in the Florida Keys a new way to coast through South Florida in style.”

Spirit plans to offer three seat classes on the route: Spirit First, Premium Economy, and Value. Spirit First comes with a larger seat, a free carry-on and one checked bag, priority boarding, and other benefits, while Premium Economy offers extra legroom and one carry-on.

Key West will be Spirit’s eighth destination in Florida. The carrier currently serves Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Miami, Orlando, Pensacola, Tampa, and West Palm Beach.
