American is slated to resume a mainline route from its Phoenix hub later this year. The Fort Worth, Texas-based airline last regularly linked these two cities in January 2020.

Beginning on Dec. 18, the carrier will add flights from Phoenix to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This service will operate once per day on an Airbus A321, according to last week’s Cirium Diio schedule update.

The airline will go head-to-head with Southwest and JetBlue, which also regularly service the route.
