A UPS Boeing 747-8 freighter scraped an engine nacelle on the runway while landing in Taipei, Taiwan, earlier this week.
The aircraft, registered as N613UP, flew from Hong Kong to Taipei on Wednesday and encountered strong winds from a hurricane as it navigated over Taiwan. According to aviation news site AeroTime, wind speeds reached up to 118 miles per hour.
The freighter was making its third landing attempt at Taoyuan International Airport when its right wing lowered, briefly bringing an engine pod into contact with the runway. The crew then rebalanced the 747 and proceeded to the gate without further incident. No injuries were reported.

Video of the landing showed the aircraft rolling to the left and then to the right before striking its far right engine nacelle on the runway, setting off a burst of white sparks.
Photos shared on social media showed part of the engine nacelle stripped away, as well as black marks from the runway strike.
UPS said the aircraft was removed from service and is undergoing an inspection and repairs.
