Delta is letting its employees and SkyMiles members vote on a new European destination.

As part of the carrier’s first “Route Race,” eligible voters can pick from three possible locations – Sardinia, Italy; Malta; and Ibiza, Spain. Nonstop service to the winning destination will start in the summer of 2026, Delta said.

SkyMiles members can cast their vote Aug. 25-29 using the Fly Delta mobile app. It was not immediately clear how Delta workers will vote.

The winning destination will be announced about 30 days after voting closes.

“SkyMiles members and Delta people are at the center of everything Delta does,” said Paul Baldoni, Delta’s senior vice president of network planning. “The Route Race is a celebration of their influence, giving our community a voice in where they want to fly next and inviting them to help shape Delta’s global network.”

Delta said the contest was inspired in part by the May launch of its service from New York-JFK to Catania, Italy, as well as increasing demand for Mediterranean island destinations.

This summer, the carrier is operating its largest transatlantic schedule ever, with new routes to Barcelona, Brussels, Copenhagen, Dublin, Milan, Naples, and Rome. It has also increased service to Athens, Munich, and Zurich.
