Algeria’s flag carrier has launched scheduled service to Malaysia.
Air Algerie commenced new non-stop flights connecting Algiers and Kuala Lumpur. The inaugural flight landed in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.
The airline will operate three flights per week on this route, using Airbus A330-900neo aircraft.
Flight Schedule
Flight AH3156 departs Algiers at 5:05 p.m. on Sundays and Fridays, and arrives in Kuala Lumpur at 1:30 p.m. the following day.
Flight AH3157 departs Kuala Lumpur at 3:30 p.m., and arrives in Algiers at 11:15 p.m. on Mondays and Saturdays.
Flight AH3156 departs Algiers at 8:55 p.m. on Wednesdays, and arrives in Kuala Lumpur at 4:30 p.m. the following day.
Flight AH3157 departs Kuala Lumpur at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays, and arrives in Algiers at 2:15 a.m. on Fridays.
Flight time for the outbound route is 12 hours and 35 minutes, and 13 hours and 45 minutes for the inbound service.
Growing Connectivity to Africa
The new route is the first nonstop air link between Malaysia and Algeria.
The only other African carriers operating services to Kuala Lumpur are Ethiopian Airlines and Air Mauritius.
Malaysia Airlines has previously flown to Africa. It operated flights to Johannesburg and Cape Town but terminated these routes in January 2012.
Budget carrier Air Asia also briefly operated flights from Kuala Lumpur to Mauritius and Nairobi but suspended the routes.
