According to a press release from Allegiant, current President Greg Anderson will replace founder Maurice J. Gallagher as the new CEO and President. Gallagher will step down from the role on September 1 and will transition to the company’s Executive Chairman.
“I’m thrilled to announce Greg [Anderson] as Allegiant’s CEO,” said Gallagher in the announcement.
Anderson has been with the airline since 2010 and has held multiple leadership roles, including chief financial officer during the COVID-19 pandemic. He previously held roles at U.S. Airways and Ernst and Young.
“After working closely with him for the past 15 years, I have first-hand knowledge of his phenomenal leadership skills, business acumen, industry knowledge and work ethic that make him well-prepared to take on these added responsibilities,” Gallagher continued.
As president, he led the company to extensive growth, including adding multiple new routes during the pandemic and signing orders for over 100 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
“I’m honored and humbled to serve as Allegiant’s next CEO,” Anderson said in a statement.
Gallagher has been CEO for almost 25 years, founding the company in 1999.
Gallager added, “I have complete confidence with Greg at the helm and I know he will continue to build on our success.”
