More CRJ-550 aircraft are set to join United’s regional fleet, SkyWest leadership shared during its earnings call on Thursday.
Hourly flights are set to return between New York and Washington, D.C starting in May 2025 with up to 17 daily frequencies.
Currently, the regional airline giant operates a handful of the premium-heavy 50-seat jets for Delta Connection and soon United Express.
Delta Connection’s CRJ-550s also appear to feature the snack bar and closet and are branded with the carrier’s typical seat design colors.
SkyWest is set to begin operating CRJ-550s for United in December with an “opportunity for more in the future,” the airline said in its release.
Delta is adding more CRJ-500 flights to its network, with the SkyWest-operated aircraft now flying out of Delta’s hub in Detroit.
Starting next month, the newly introduced aircraft type is set to operate a handful of flights from Delta’s Minneapolis/St. Paul hub.
SkyWest has begun CRJ-550 operations under the Delta Connection brand, the regional airline confirmed to AirlineGeeks on Monday.
Delta has scheduled the first batch of routes set to be operated by its new CRJ-550. The aircraft will enter service in July 2024.
