An Airbus A320 will operate the route with up to 1,440 total seats per week. Avianca currently flies between Dallas/Fort Worth and San Salvador.

Recently, the Mexican carrier has added and resumed several routes, including between Mexico City and Phoenix, along with Cancun to Miami.

With meaningful investment already and likely more on the way, the airline seems dead set on maintaining its status as the city’s No. 2 carrier.

Southwest sued the city of San Antonio and its airport director alleging it was unfairly denied allocation for the airport’s new $1.4 billion terminal.
