Low-cost carrier Breeze announced Tuesday it will begin offering flights from New Haven, Conn., marking its second station within the state. The airline will commence service from Tweed New Haven Airport (HVN) on Dec. 10, 2024.

Initially, Breeze will offer nonstop service to Fort Myers, Orlando, and West Palm Beach. Additional destinations, including Vero Beach, Florida, and several cities in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia, are scheduled to launch in February 2025.

Breeze’s first routes from New Haven include:

  • Fort Myers (Operating Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri, and Sat, starting December 10)
  • Orlando (Operating Tues, Wed, Thurs, Sat, and Sun, starting December 11, Daily service starting February 5)
  • West Palm Beach (Operating Tues, Wed, Thurs, Sat, and Sun, starting December 11)
  • Vero Beach (Operating Mondays and Fridays, starting December 13)
  • Charleston, S.C. (Operating Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, starting February 6)
  • Jacksonville (Operating Thursdays and Sundays, starting February 6)
  • Norfolk (Operating Thursdays and Sundays, starting February 6)
  • Richmond (Operating Thursdays and Sundays, starting February 6)
  • Raleigh-Durham (Operating Mondays and Fridays, starting February 7)
  • Sarasota/Bradenton (Operating Mondays and Fridays, starting February 7)
  • New Orleans (Operating Thursdays and Sundays, one-stop/no change of aircraft service, starting February 6)

The airline — which started operations in 2021 — already has a base at Bradley Airport. It will expand its Connecticut presence even more by including New Haven as part of this base. The two airports are located roughly 50 miles apart.

“From ‘Day One’ our playbook has included significant growth across the Northeast region of the U.S. due to the high population density and limited nonstop travel options,” said Lukas Johnson, Breeze Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, in a press release. “As a result, our unique model of air service has been a game-changer for this area of the country, giving residents affordable flights from convenient airports such as Hartford, Westchester County, Providence, Stewart-Newburgh, and now, New Haven, just to name a few. I know that as more and more people experience our one-of-a-kind service and product, they will see what all the hype is about and why Breeze has grown so quickly in such a short period of time.”

International Expansion

Beyond New Haven, Breeze also outlined plans to expand its operations at Bradley, including the potential for international flights. The airline says it is currently in the final stages of securing the necessary certifications for international service.

Breeze is planning to begin selling international flights by the end of 2024.

Competing With Avelo

Avelo is currently the only airline serving New Haven. The carrier — which also began flying just months before Breeze in 2021 — has maintained a base in New Haven for over three years.

The airline currently employs over 250 staff members in New Haven with 27 non-stop routes, some of which overlap with Breeze’s recent announcement.
