Delta is planning to resume widebody service on one of its domestic routes starting in October 2024. As first noted by AeroRoutes, the route has not seen widebody service since October 2021.

The Atlanta-based carrier will fly an Airbus A330-300 between its Detroit hub and Phoenix. Operating from Oct. 27, 2024 to March 8, 2025, the aircraft type will serve the route on a daily basis.

While Delta regularly operates widebody jets to Phoenix during the peak winter season, the A330-300 will be among the largest aircraft to serve the market from Detroit. The aircraft can accommodate up to 282 passengers.

In the past, the carrier has operated A330-200s along with Boeing 767-300s and 767-400s on the route. The A330-300 is slated to operate flight 1070 this winter.

Delta has a handful of domestic widebody routes within the continental U.S. this winter, including between its Atlanta hub and Las Vegas along with San Diego. The airline will also operate a mix of Boeing 767-300s, 767-400s, and A330-300s between Atlanta and Phoenix.
