Key Takeaways:

United is expanding its domestic network with plans to resume a route last served in December 2013. The Chicago-based airline recently announced a slew of high-profile international routes that are set to begin next summer.

In December 2024, United is slated to resume service between its Washington Dulles hub and Salt Lake City. Flights will begin on Dec. 19, operating once per day.

According to schedule data from Cirium Diio, the carrier will use a mix of Airbus and Boeing narrowbody aircraft on the route. Flights to Salt Lake City depart just after 5 p.m. local time, while the return trip is an overnight flight, arriving back at Washington Dulles around 5 a.m.

The airline will compete directly with Delta, which also operates daily flights on the route. Delta also serves Washington Reagan National Airport with flights to its Salt Lake City hub.

On Oct. 1, low-cost carrier Breeze launched new service between Dulles and Provo, Utah, which is approximately 45 miles south of Salt Lake City. Breeze’s service is currently operating three times a week.
