Air Canada plans to grow its transborder network in summer 2025, adding two new routes from its Vancouver hub. The airline’s announcement comes just days after WestJet planned a similar expansion from British Columbia to the U.S.
Starting in June, the airline will connect Vancouver with Tampa, Florida, and Raleigh, North Carolina. Last month, Air Canada also announced plans to add service between Vancouver and Nashville, Tennessee.
Vancouver-Tampa is set to begin on June 3, 2025, operating year-round on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Air Canada’s low-cost rival WestJet announced the same route in November, which is slated to start on June 14.
On June 4, Air Canada will begin seasonal flights from Vancouver to Raleigh. Flights will operate three times per week.
“Air Canada continues to reinforce its position as the leading carrier between Canada and the US with new flights to fast-growing metropolitan areas and sought out destinations. Our robust network means customers in Western Canada have more options to explore all that the US has to offer, and for our American customers to explore beautiful British Columbia,” said Mark Galardo, executive vice president of revenue and network planning at Air Canada, in a news release.
Capacity Increases
In addition, the airline plans to bolster capacity from Vancouver to Austin, Texas, with two additional frequencies per week for a total of five. WestJet announced new service between Vancouver and Austin in November.
Both Denver and Miami will also see added capacity from Vancouver, the airline said.
