The airline is scaling back capacity.
Spirit plans to cut more routes next year. The ultra-low-cost carrier – which filed for bankruptcy in November – has aggressively scaled back capacity into 2025.
The beleaguered airline expects capacity to be down in the mid-teens on a year-over-year basis. Fourth-quarter capacity will be down by approximately 20%.
Earlier this year, Spirit nixed scores of routes, while also announcing plans to sell 23 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. The carrier is furloughing over 300 more pilots in January.
According to Cirium Diio schedule data, Spirit is slated to axe more routes. These include Baltimore to Tampa, Florida; Las Vegas to Salt Lake City, Utah; Orlando, Florida, to Salt Lake City. and Orlando to St. Louis.
The carrier also plans to end an international route from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Guayaquil, Ecuador, in February 2025.
Service between Baltimore and Tampa along with Las Vegas to Salt Lake City will end in December and March 2025, respectively. The other routes were completely wiped from the airline’s schedule.
