JetBlue announced the return of two nonstop routes from its hub at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. This includes service to Philadelphia International Airport and José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Flights to Philadelphia will begin on July 3, with double daily flights, while service to Guayaquil will launch on July 17, with one daily flight.
The New York-based airline suspended service to Guayaquil last year and to Philadelphia in 2023.
The Fort Lauderdale-to-Philadelphia route will feature two daily departures. One flight will leave FLL at 8 a.m. and arrive in Philadelphia at 10:50 a.m. The second daily departure is scheduled for 4:10 p.m., arriving in Philadelphia at 7 p.m.
On the return leg, flights will leave Philadelphia at 11:45 a.m. and 7:55 p.m., arriving back in Fort Lauderdale at 2:35 p.m. and 10:45 p.m., respectively.
The nonstop flight from Fort Lauderdale to Guayaquil will depart at 10 a.m. and arrive in Ecuador at 1:30 p.m. The return flight from Guayaquil will takeoff at 2:40 p.m. and arrive in Fort Lauderdale at 8:09 p.m.
All flights will be operated by Airbus A320 aircraft.
“As JetBlue continues to build the best East Coast leisure network, we are offering customers more value, choice and convenience,” said Daniel Shurz, head of revenue, network and enterprise planning at JetBlue, in a news release. “With direct access from Philadelphia and Guayaquil via Fort Lauderdale, we’re not only making it easier for more customers to get to their favorite vacation destination, but also to connect with their family and friends, all while strengthening JetBlue’s position as a preferred carrier in South Florida.”
Between Philadelphia and Fort Lauderdale, JetBlue will go head-to-head with American, Spirit, and Frontier. The airline will not have any direct competition on the Fort Lauderdale-Guayaquil route.
The expansion is part of JetBlue’s continued investment in South Florida, where the airline now operates more than 70 daily flights to over 30 destinations. Year over year, JetBlue has increased departures in the region by 6%, the carrier said.
