United is restarting nonstop service to Tel Aviv, Israel, after suspending the route during the outbreak of fighting between Israel and Iran last month.
The carrier will offer a single flight between Newark, New Jersey, and Tel Aviv on July 21 before resuming its regular twice-daily service the following day.
“This resumption is in line with United’s longstanding commitment to serving Tel Aviv,” the airline said in a statement. “United service to Tel Aviv always follows a detailed assessment of operational considerations in the region and close consultation with the unions representing our flight attendants and pilots.”
United, together with Delta, suspended service to Tel Aviv on June 13 after Israel launched surprise airstrikes inside Iran. The countries traded attacks for close to two weeks, forcing airlines to cancel hundreds of flights throughout the region.
Delta has paused flights between New York-JFK and Tel Aviv until Aug. 31. It is not clear if the airline will reconsider that date in light of United’s decision.
American has not flown to Israel since October 2023, when the Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a massive cross-border raid that killed over 1,100 Israelis, setting off the ongoing war in Gaza.
