Fastjet Zimbabwe this week celebrated a decade of operating scheduled services.
The carrier obtained its air service permit in March 2015 and then secured its air operator certificate in October the same year.
Since then, the airline has become a key player in Zimbabwe’s aviation landscape.
Fastjet Zimbabwe officially launched operations on Oct. 28, 2015, with its first flight from Harare to Victoria Falls. The flight was operated with an Airbus A319.
Since then the airline has significantly expanded its flight schedule and route network. The carrier offers both domestic and regional services.
Within Zimbabwe it operates between Harare, Bulawayo, and Victoria Falls, while regionally it flies to Johannesburg, Maputo, Nelspruit, and Lusaka.
Fastjet has also grown its fleet, now operating several Embraer jets.
Economic Value
The privately-owned carrier plays an important part in sustaining Zimbabwe’s economy, facilitating trade and tourism.
The government has invested heavily in its airports and infrastructure in recent years to spur economic growth.
