Regional airline CommuteAir will remain an exclusive partner of United through at least 2028, the carrier announced last week.

Privately owned Fastjet has operated its first service between Harare and Lusaka, Zambia. The inaugural flight operated on Wednesday.

The introduction of this service is set to boost regional connectivity within the region because it is Fastjet’s first route into Zambia.

On the heels of its breakup with CRJ-200 operator Air Wisconsin, American is also detailing plans to end all 50-seat service from Chicago this summer.

The airline’s wholly-owned regional subsidiary Piedmont plans to have 70 Embraer 145s in its fleet next year as more return from long-term storage.

The tides are rapidly changing for 50-seat regional aircraft operations in the U.S. More of the type are now in storage than in service.
