American Airlines regional subsidiary Piedmont announced plans to add a new aircraft type to its fleet in 2028, shifting away from its fleet of 50-seat jets.
On the heels of its breakup with CRJ-200 operator Air Wisconsin, American is also detailing plans to end all 50-seat service from Chicago this summer.
American is slated to become the latest U.S. airline to remove the CRJ-200 from its network. The carrier is planning a regional shake-up later this year.
The airline’s wholly-owned regional subsidiary Piedmont plans to have 70 Embraer 145s in its fleet next year as more return from long-term storage.
