Key Takeaways:

American Airlines is set to resume a short-haul route connecting New England and western New York.

The carrier confirmed to AirlineGeeks that service between Boston and Buffalo will start on March 8, 2026. Flights will operate up to three times a day using Embraer E175 aircraft.

Currently, JetBlue is the only airline offering nonstop service between Boston and Buffalo. Like the coming American service, it operates three times per day.

According to Cirium Diio schedule data, American last connected Boston and Buffalo with non-stop flights in 2017.

American has added several new routes for 2026, including service between Vero Beach, Florida, and Charlotte, North Carolina, and between Miami and Bimini, The Bahamas. New routes connecting Chicago and Mexico City and Philadelphia and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, will start later this year.
