LATAM Airlines Peru is delaying the launch of its planned new route between Lima and Orlando, Florida.

In a statement, the LATAM Group subsidiary said that new airport use fees at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima made it financially impossible to start the service as originally scheduled on Oct. 26. The route will be suspended until Nov. 30.

LATAM Airlines Peru said it will book passengers with tickets for flights between Oct. 26 and Nov. 30 on other routes connecting Lima and Orlando. If customers decline this option, the airline will issue a refund.

“We firmly believe in the potential of the Jorge Chávez hub, as well as the strategic value of routes connecting Peru with key destinations in North America,” the carrier said in a statement. “We will continue to promote dialogue with the Peruvian authorities to build a competitive, predictable, and sustainable environment that allows us to resume operations for the benefit of passengers and the country’s development. We deeply regret the inconvenience this decision may cause to our passengers.”

LATAM Airlines Peru is the largest airline at Jorge Chávez International Airport. It connects Lima to destinations in Central and South America, the U.S., and the Caribbean.

LATAM Group airlines currently serve Orlando from Bogotá and São Paulo.
