South Africa’s Airlink has signed a lease agreement with Azorra for 10 new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, with the first expected later this year.

The new Cape Town-Mauritius service will also be operated using an Airbus A320, seating up to 138 passengers in Business and Economy.

Fastjet currently operates flights from its Harare hub to both Bulawayo and Victoria Falls but has not previously flown between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls.

The airline will operate three weekly flights using its modern Airbus A220-300 aircraft, further enhancing connectivity between Southern and Eastern Africa.

Qatar Airways has signed an agreement with Kenya Airways that will increase service between Qatar and Kenya and introduce codesharing across their networks.

The airline restarted service between Doha and Kigali on June 25. Its last passenger flight to Kigali was over three years ago, in December 2021. 

Under the scope of an agreement yet to be finalized, Airlink will grow its current fleet, comprising of 68 aircraft, with the new jets.

The partnership paves the way for new flight routes, with Ethiopian set to launch services from Addis Ababa to Abu Dhabi on July 15.

IATA has urged governments to remove all barriers preventing airlines from the timely repatriation of their revenues from ticket sales and other activities.
