Spirit will discontinue service in 11 U.S. markets this fall as part of a broader network adjustment, a spokesperson told AirlineGeeks on Wednesday.
Unionized workers will be temporarily laid off, the airline said, while management and non-union cuts will be permanent.
The ultra-low-cost carrier – which filed for bankruptcy protection in November – has aggressively scaled back capacity into 2025.
In an internal memo sent to employees on Wednesday, the carrier said it is “focused on building the best East Coast leisure network.”
