The DOJ is backing an effort by the Transportation Department to revoke the antitrust immunity agreement underlying Delta’s joint venture with Aeroméxico.

The Trump administration on Saturday took the first step toward undoing the close alliance between Delta and Mexican flag carrier Aeroméxico.

Canada’s largest airline announced Wednesday that it is relaunching nonstop service to Lima, Peru, and adding destinations in Mexico and Belize.

Canadian airline WestJet is adding new seasonal destinations and routes this winter, including flights to Cuba, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Panama.

In a statement, Porter President Kevin Jackson said the new destinations are the airline’s first outside Canada and the U.S.

he carrier has added more routes to the U.S. in recent months, including flights to Phoenix, Tampa, and Raleigh, North Carolina. 

Soon after its opening in December 2023, several airlines from the U.S., Canada, and Latin America flocked to the airport with an influx in capacity.

American currently operates over 100 peak daily flights between the U.S. and Mexico, according to Cirium Diio schedule data.

Mexico’s military-run airline – Mexicana de Aviación – is scaling back its route network following a $50 million loss in 2024.

One of Mexico’s newest airports – Tulum – saw a large influx in air service when it opened just over a year ago in December 2023.
