A federal jury ordered SkyWest Airlines to pay $300,000 to a former employee who was the target of continued sexual harassment in a verdict on Wednesday.

Currently, the regional airline giant operates a handful of the premium-heavy 50-seat jets for Delta Connection and soon United Express.

Together with regional operator SkyWest, United began serving the eastern California airport in December 2021 with seasonal flights.

In 2022, the town of nearly 34,500 was one of many small communities that felt the effects of pilot supply woes at regional airlines.

Delta Connection’s CRJ-550s also appear to feature the snack bar and closet and are branded with the carrier’s typical seat design colors.

United’s regional strategy will involve larger aircraft and fewer frequencies with subsequently lower unit costs, the carrier said this week.

SkyWest is set to begin operating CRJ-550s for United in December with an “opportunity for more in the future,” the airline said in its release. 

Delta is adding more CRJ-500 flights to its network, with the SkyWest-operated aircraft now flying out of Delta’s hub in Detroit.

Delta is once again expanding its network from Austin–Bergstrom International Airport, adding a new regional route in 2025.

Attorneys representing former SkyWest flight attendants filed an answer on Tuesday denying the SkyWest Inflight Association’s counterclaim.
