Ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) Spirit has announced a new route shakeup which will see the carrier cutting routes and adding new ones.

JetBlue Airways has responded to a federal judge’s Tuesday decision to block its merger with Spirit Airlines, saying it disagrees with the decision.

In a big win for President Joe Biden’s Justice Department, a federal judge has blocked the merger between JetBlue Airways and Spirit Airlines.

Plans for a trial come as Spirit is facing a sharp drop in demand that is severely impacting its profits. The airline has halted pilot hiring.

Spirit is adding several new routes across the U.S., but is also removing a handful of flights in its 2024 schedule. Most notably, the carrier is expanding its presence in Boston.

Spirit Airlines has added four new routes to be launched in September. According to Cirium data, the carrier will connect Chicago with Charlotte, and Nashville with both Miami and Boston, all new routes, in addition to reconnecting Miami and New Orleans.
