American is poised to add another route from its Chicago hub. This summer, the airline says it will offer record capacity from O’Hare, with 25% more seats than the same period last year.
Starting on Oct. 6, the Fort Worth, Texas-based carrier will resume flights between Chicago and Chattanooga, Tennessee, a market last served by the airline in 2019. Service will operate twice daily with a Republic Airways Embraer E175 regional jet, according to Cirium Diio schedule data.
A spokesperson from the airline confirmed the route addition on Sunday. American will go head-to-head with United in this market, which links the two cities up to five times daily.
American currently connects Chattanooga with its hubs in Charlotte, North Carolina; Dallas/Fort Worth; Washington Reagan National; and seasonal flights to Miami.
The Eastern Tennessee city has seen a recent bump in air service. Next month, Spirit will begin brand-new service to Chattanooga with up to 11 weekly flights.
Chattanooga will see nearly 40% more scheduled seats this July compared to the same period last year, per Cirium’s data.
